Along with the general name of electrician it is very common to find the professional category that is required of the candidate: apprentice electrician, assistant electrician, first-level technician, qualified electrician, etc., or the tasks to be performed: maintenance and repair of machinery, naval electrician, for building works, electricity inspector, electrician-antenna installer, for commercial premises, electrical cabinet fitter, etc.

Among the electricians’ construction and other on-site tasks are preparing the installations (conduits and trays, etc.),running and connecting cables, wiring cabinets, connecting field components, photovoltaic installations, fitting of trays and conduits, installing fire alarm systems and even security systems and installing distribution and metering wiring, installing meters, interphones, etc.
 
Repairs include fault repairs and renovations of houses, replacing wiring in new and old buildings, maintaining shopping areas and repairing cold storage rooms.
 
Electricians’ skills include handling small tools and measuring instruments such as voltmeters and ammeters, interpreting electrical diagrams and plans, lists of connections, preparing electrical panels, etc.
 
They must also have knowledge of air conditioning and installing electrical automation systems, low and high-voltage electricity work and single-line diagrams.
